When I had started this project back in January, I had two very good idea's of what I wanted my question for the essay to be. I wanted to do an essay on narrative and the engagement of the audience.

My first idea was to do How does Penelope Spheeris allow the characters of Wayne's world to communicate with the audience, for this idea I would of needed to research thoroughly and deeply into the movie about the communication towards the audience but then I realized I was going to really struggle to put it into a 2000 word essay. 

My second and chosen idea was how does Leonardo DiCaprio's character in the wolf of wall street use narrative to make it feel real. Unfortunately that question couldn't be answered properly from the feedback I got from my lecturer Luke so I decided I was going to rewrite the essay and change the title question to how does Martin Scorsese use narrative to engage the audience. This question gave me a better variation of what I could research into and put in my essay and make sense, I researched into websites about the wolf of wall street and looked into interviews which I used in my essay.

When I was redoing my essay I had a lot of problems with my laptop, it kept on freezing, crashing and being slow, luckily none of my work was lost but it took me a lot longer to complete because of it. When I wrote the first draft of the essay I did struggle a bit but only because the question couldn't be answered properly. 

When researching into my essay question I looked at an interview with Martin Scorsese which he spoke about how Leonardo DiCaprio's character was different to the real Jordan Belfort and how he had been exaggerated to make it more engaging for the audience, I also looked into interviews with the real Jordan Belfort which he spoke about his problem with the FBI and all the time he spent with Leonardo DiCaprio so he could learn his character for the role of Jordan Belfort in the wolf of wall street. I did look into many different websites but one stood out the most with information I could use and support in my essay, it is called cinemablend and was written by Hugh Scott.  

In conclusion, I feel I have learnt a lot from this essay project and it will greater my knowledge for the final Major project.
